Hope everyone had a great holiday, you should check your stocking still though because today the giving just doesn’t stop at MLSDraft.net. I have put out another mock draft and with a few additions & changes it’s starting to make the draft look extremely deep. The top level skill may not be as good as last years draft, but there will be some second round picks who will contribute to the MLS for a long time.
Today the MLS has announced the signing of 4 Generation Adidas players. Two of these signings have been written on the wall for weeks now (Teal Bunbury and Dilly Duka). The other two on the other hand were a bit of a suprise. Blair Gavin a midfielder from Akron has been signed which came as a shock to me, not because he lacks the talent for the next level (He's played U18, U20 US) but because he was hidden behind a Zips team with some really big stars who would be ahead of a player like Gavin when looking to sign GA deals. The other signed player is U17 star Jack McInerney who will not be ready to play in the MLS for atleast a few years as most youngers who sign these deals are.
The seniors who have signed contracts prior to the draft are:
With Caleb Porter turning down the MLS only a few days earlier everyone seemed to think that the underclassmen at Akron would follow suit; apparently this is not the case. According to Steven Goff, Teal Bunbury is foregoing his final two years of NCAA eligibility by signing a Generation Adidas contract.
Teal just went on the record in an interview with my friends over at It's Called Football, click on the link for the interview (Around the 10min mark)
It’s Draft time! With only a month to go until the 2010 MLS SuperDraft it is time to throw caution to the wind and run the first issue of the mock draft. With no official Gen Adidas news this week, I went ahead and guessed who the nine underclassmen will be.
